BREATH – Fashion's Sustained Act of Restoration

Nature has always whispered. To those who listen, she speaks of cycles — of things that grow, return, and begin again. BREATH is a collection born from that whisper, and from a decade of asking a simple question: what does it mean to create without taking away too much?

The answer, Anita Dongre and her creative team have come to understand, lives in the forest.

Seen from above, a forest is not chaos. It is choreography. Savannas stretch into sun-drenched clearings. Lichens climb bark in quiet symbiosis. Ferns unfurl. Decade-old trees hold their ground. Animals disappear into plain sight. There is an order here, ancient and unhurried, and within it, nothing is wasted. Everything returns home. BREATH asks what fashion might look like if it lived by that same principle, and the answer begins with the fabric.

Comprising 15 meticulously crafted pieces, BREATH translates nature's palette into wearable poetry. The color story mirrors the living world: greens of the tropics, tender ferns and ancient trees of the rainforests meet the blues of clear skies and ocean depths. Silhouettes for day and evening are rendered in draped stoles, cascading lengths, translucent sarees, asymmetric necklines and fluid hems that move as the forest does. The collection's airy and flowing silhouettes are conceived for subtropical climates where elegance and ease must coexist, particularly through the long, sun-drenched days, when lightness becomes luxury.

Ten years ago, we began working with Bemberg™️ through our partnership with Asahi Kasei, which marks its 50th year in India, making this collaboration specially resonant. Made from cotton linter, the Bemberg™️ Cupro yarn is created from what's left behind after cotton is harvested. But instead of waste, possibility was found: a fabric created through a closed-loop process powered by renewable energy. When these garments have lived their life, they return home by biodegrading gently in soil and marine ecosystems under certain conditions, completing the circle rather than breaking it. It was then that we understood that the act of making could also be an act of restoration.
