This dress is a labour of love, handwoven by traditional artisans in the comfort of their home and at their own pace in a remote village of India. This type of fabric is woven with locally sourced silk yarn and uses environment friendly waterless printing techniques. The fabric is then further embellished with motifs hand embroidered by local women artisans. Handweaving is an heirloom craft passed down through generations and requires extensive practise.
The fabric takes around 45 to 60 days to be handwoven on a traditional handloom, while the embroidery takes 20 to 30 days. This dress travels a total of 1300 miles from a remote village to our eco-friendly design headquarters in Mumbai. This truly is slow fashion.
Lightweight, regular fit, knee length, full sleeves with exaggerated cuffs, an invisible front placket and a belt.
